Biography
Alexander Dhoest is a professor belongs to the department of Communication studies from the university of Antwerpen.
Research Interest
collaborative research and PhD supervision on the above fields. I was the (co-)supervisor for PhD dissertations on contemporary TV viewing (Nele Simons), queer online representations (Lukasz Szulc), whiteness in Flemish and South-African soaps (Hannelie Marx) and Turkish police drama (Aysegul Kesirli). Currently, I (co-)supervise dissertations on LGBTQ music and subculture in Antwerp (Robbe Herreman and Marion Wasserbauer), social online disabled communities (Débora Antunes), the production of non-fiction television (Marleen te Walvaart), double bass player Jimmie Blanton (Matthias Heyman), and Mexican chick flicks (Amparo Vazquez).
