Biography
Marijke De Pauw (1987) obtained a Master Degree in Law in 2010 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. During her studies, she participated in the Erasmus exchange program and studied for four months (sept. ’08 – Jan. ’09) at the University of Malta. Subsequent to graduation, Marijke interned for six months with the Human Rights Liaison Unit of the High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva. Afterwards, she interned with the Human Rights Department of the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the UN, followed by an internship at the Migration Department of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Geneva. From March to July 2012, Marijke worked as a legal counsel for the organization Kruispunt Migratie-Integratie, where her work was mainly focused on economic migration. In July 2012, Marijke attended the summer programme International Public Law at the Hague Academy of International Law. Since October 2012, Marijke is a PhD-Researcher at Metajuridica, Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
Research Interest
Her main research interest lies in human rights, migration and the rights of the elderly.
