Biography
Nikolaos (Nikos) Deligiannis was born in Kalamata, Greece in April 1983. He received the Diploma degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree in applied sciences (awarded with the highest distinction and congratulations of the jury members) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Brussels, Belgium, in 2012. From December 2006 to September 2007, he was with the Wireless Telecommunications Laboratory, University of Patras. He joined the Department of Electronics and Infomatics, Vrije Universiteit Brussel in October 2007, where he is currently working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher for the ETRO IRIS research group. His current research interests include statistical channel modeling, multimedia coding, distributed source coding, multiple description coding, and wireless sensor networks. Dr. Deligiannis was the co-recipient of the 2011 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Distributed Smart Cameras Best Paper Award. He is the author or co-author of 40 journal and conference publications, book chapters and of one filled international patent application. Dr. Deligiannis is a member of SPIE, EURASIP and the IEEE Signal Processing and Communications Societies.
