Biography
Dr. Cartmel's primary research interests are in the area of cancer prevention and cancer survivorship. Dr. Cartmel is collaborating on a large case control study of basal cell carcinoma in young people. The goal of this study is to explore the etiology and genetics of basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of nonmelanoma skin cancer, with a particular focus on UV exposure from tanning beds.
