Biography
Mr. Bernardo Afonso Salomão de Alvarenga serves as President of Executive Board at Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais S.A. and has been Chief Executive Officer and Member of Executive Board since January 05, 2017 and serves as a Deputy CEO on interim basis. Mr. de Alvarenga has been the Chief Executive Officer and Member of Executive Board at Cemig Geração e Transmissão S.A. since March 15, 2017. Mr. de Alvarenga has been the Chief Executive Officer of CEMIG Distribuição S.A since March 15, 2017 and has been its Member of Executive Board since May 31, 2017 and also serves as its President and Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Mr. de Alvarenga served as the Chief Trading Officer at Cemig Geração e Transmissão S.A. since January 5, 2017 until March 15, 2017. He served as the Chief Trading Officer and Member at CEMIG Distribuicao S.A. Mr. de Alvarenga served as the Chief Trading Officer of Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais S.A. since April 27, 2007 and served as a Member of its Executive Board. Mr. de Alvarenga joined CEMIG in 1980 and worked in operational and pre-operational sales, sales to transmission consumers and large client operational sales, before becoming Sales Superintendent for Large Clients of CEMIG from 1998 to 2001 and for corporate clients from 2001 to 2005. From March 2006 to April 2007, he served as Superintendent for Wholesale Electricity Purchases and Sales of CEMIG and in April 2007 where he appointed Chief Commercial Officer. Mr. de Alvarenga has been involved in several strategic projects at CEMIG, including the pioneering system for differentiated tariffs based on the season and time of day, from 1980 to 1982. He has been a Director of Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais S.A. since May 12, 2017 and CEMIG Distribuição S.A since May 31, 2017. He serves as Director of Cemig Geração e Transmissão S.A. He holds Degree in electrical engineering from Minas Gerais Federal University in 1978 and MBA from Getúlio Vargas Foundation in 2001.
