Biography

Rohan Weerasinghe joined Citi as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in June 2012. A member of Citi's Operating Committee, Rohan oversees Citi's global legal team, including business-unit general counsels, regional general counsels and corporate deputy general counsels. Before Citi, Rohan was Senior Partner at Shearman & Sterling. An international law firm with approximately 900 lawyers and offices in 20 cities around the globe, Shearman & Sterling advises corporations, financial institutions and governments. He joined Shearman & Sterling in 1977, became a partner in 1985 and served as Senior Partner from 2005 to 2012. For the 35 years he was at Shearman & Sterling, he advised and represented financial institutions and corporations worldwide on issues including corporate governance, complex corporate transactions, and capital markets offerings, including IPOs and debt issues. Rohan graduated from Harvard College in 1972 and received his M.B.A. and J.D. from Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School in 1977. He is a Trustee of the Carnegie Endowment for Peace and a director on the board of The Clearing House Association.
