Jos Wellekens

Biography

Jos Wellekens is Vice President and Chief Quality, Safety and Sustainable Operations Officer of The Coca-Cola Company, a position he has held since January 2013. Previously he was Director of Quality Assurance (QA), Scientific and Regulatory Affairs (SRA) and Technical Services of the Europe Group. Wellekens joined The Coca-Cola Company in Brussels in 1992, holding a variety of quality, SRA and technical operations leadership positions over the course of his career. At the start of his career he was responsible for the development and implementation of supplier development programs across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In 1999, he became the Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Engineering Development in Atlanta. In 2000, he became Technical Director for the Iberian business unit, based in Madrid. In 2002, he served as Director of Operations for Atlantic Beverages Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Coca-ColaCompany, based in London. In 2005, he was named Technical Director for the Central European business unit, based in Vienna. In 2007, Wellekens was named Director of Quality Assurance and Technical Operations for the European Union Group, having overarching QA responsibility for bottling operations in more than 25 countries. In 2009, he assumed the additional responsibility for the Scientific and Regulatory Affairs function for the EU Group and became Director of QA, SRA and Technical Services. Wellekens holds a Masters of Science degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the University of Ghent in Belgium and a Postgraduate degree in Quality Management from the Centre for Quality in Kortrijk, Belgium.
