Biography

Britaldo Pedrosa Soares is a full member of the Company’s Board of Directors since April 2008 and Chairman of the Board of Directors since April 1, 2016. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, with postgraduate studies in Engineering Economics from Fundação Dom Cabral, and took part in several executive education programs, including the Senior Executive Program from Darden School of Business - University of Virginia. He is currently: (i) Chief Executive Officer of AES Sul Distribuidora Gaúcha de Energia S.A. (a publicly-held company whose main activity is the operation in the electricity sector); (ii) Chief Executive Officer of AES Tietê S.A. (a publicly-held company whose main activity is the operation in the electricity sector); (iii) Chief Executive Officer and Investor Relations Officer of Companhia Brasiliana de Energia (a publicly-held company whose main activity is the operation in the electricity sector) and AES Elpa S.A. (a publicly-held company whose main activity is the operation in the electricity sector); and (iv) a member of the Board of Directors at Companhia Brasiliana de Energia, AES Elpa S.A., AES Tietê S.A., AES Sul Distribuidora Gaúcha de Energia S.A., AES Gener S.A. (a publicly-held company in Chile whose main activity is the operation in the electricity sector), AES Uruguaiana Empreendimentos S.A. (a private company whose main activity is the operation in the electricity sector), the National System Operator - ONS, since April 2008, Brazilian Institute of Finance Executives of São Paulo - IBEF since January 2011, the American Chamber of Commerce - AMCHAM São Paulo since January 2011 and The Dayton Power and Light Company since November 2011, the National Quality Foundation - FNQ since June 2013 and Brazilian Association of Infrastructure and Basic Industry - ABDIB since May 2014. In addition to the aforementioned positions, Mr. Soares also held the following positions over the past five years: (i) Chief Financial Officer and Director of Investor Relations at Jarí Celulose S.A. (private company operating in the packaging paper segment), Elektro Eletricidade e Serviços S.A. (a publicly-held company operating in the power generation, distribution and transmission segment), Aços Villares S.A. (a publicly-held company operating primarily in the steelworks segment), AES Tietê S.A. and of the Company; (ii) Director of Investor Relations at Companhia Brasiliana de Energia, between February 2006 and June 2007; and (iii) member of the Board of Directors of Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais- CEMIG (a publicly-held company operating primarily in the electricity segment), between April 2008 and January 2011.
