Biography
Currently, I am the head of the Secretariat of International Affairs of Embrapa (SRI). My main role is to provide support to the board of directors on international issues as well as foster collaborative initiatives between Embrapa and its international partners. Embrapa is the scientific arm of the Brazil Ministry of Agriculture. I recently left my duty as visiting researcher working in the so-called Embrapa Labex initiative (a unique international program that Embrapa has launched for international collaborative research in cutting-edge science topics), in Harpenden - UK, at Rothamsted Research. My two main tasks were: A) to develop a common interest project on molecular plant-microbe interactions at Rothamsted Research and B) to foster collaborative studies between Embrapa and UK and other European research institutions. My PhD was completed during the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) and UFLA (Brazil). In 2000, I concluded a post-doctoral position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign-USA, in plant molecular biology.
