Biography
Agronomist at the Federal University of Paraíba (1997), Master (2001) and Doctor (2005) in Entomology at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). He is currently Head of Research and Development (R & D) of Embrapa Amazônia Oriental (Belém, PA) - and a permanent professor of the Postgraduate Program in Amazonian Agriculture (PPGAA) of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), which has a multidisciplinary approach. He has dedicated his research to the areas of Integrated Pest Management of the main Amazonian crops (especially Fruit and Palm trees), Biological Pest Control, Botanical Pesticides and Agroecology. In recent years, his research has been more intense in a multidisciplinary perspective, especially with (1) Fruit Flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) of importance for the Amazon; (2) Pest and natural enemies of Palmáceas and (3) Diversity of Natural Enemies in Ecologically Based Systems in the Brazilian Amazon. He is a Research Productivity Fellow (PQ-2) of CNPq and leader of the Research Group "Insects-pest and Beneficial plants cultivated in the Eastern Amazon". He was Regional Secretary of the Entomological Society of Brazil (SEB) for the State of Pará between 2009-2010. Consultant Ad Hoc of the CNPq and of different national and international periodicals.
