Biography
He holds a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Viçosa (1982), a Master's degree in Plant Science (Seed Technology) from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture - ESALQ / USP (1990), a Ph.D. in Horticultural Sciences (Seed Physiology) from the University of Florida (1998), and postdoctoral degree from the University of Florida (2007). He has a specialization course in the production of vegetable seeds in Argentina (1990), Japan (1991) and Germany (2001). He is currently a researcher at Embrapa Hortaliças, Brasilia, DF. Has experience in the area of ​​genetic improvement and seed production technology and vegetable seedlings. He is also an accredited professor and adviser for graduate students at the University of Brasilia (UnB) and at the State University of Goiás (UEG), and co-adviser at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). Coordinator of the Course on Vegetable Seed Production Technology, currently in its 16th edition. He is an ad-hoc advisor to CNPq and several technical-scientific journals such as the Journal American Society for Horticultural Sciences, Brazilian Horticulture, Scientia Agricola, Ceres and Bragantia Magazine. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Seed Science. Member of the Brazilian Association of Seed Technology (Abrates), the Brazilian Horticultural Association (ABH) and the International Society for Horticultural Sciences (ISHS). In 2002 and 2003 he was a consultant to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for Cuba, and in 2005 and 2009 he was a consultant to ABC / MRE for Cape Verde and Senegal, respectively. Representative of Embrapa at the Sectorial Chamber of the Productive Chain of Map Vegetable and representative of Abrates at the Committee of Olerícolas of Abrasem. From 2008 until the beginning of 2017, he held the position of Deputy Manager of Technology Transfer and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Embrapa Hortaliças.
