Biography

Cristina Machado is a Researcher of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation - EMBRAPA. She holds a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering (Federal University of Parana ? UFPR, 1998); a MSc in Food Technology (UFPR, 2000) and a D.Sc. in Biotechnological Processes (UFPR, 2002). Her MSc and PhD thesis work were both focused on the development of a fermentation process for the production of a hormone from agro industrial residues. She has worked at Embrapa Vegetables, in the area of Food Technology, from October 2001 to March 2008, on vegetable processing technologies development. On March 2008 she was transferred for Embrapa Agroenergy and her research field is on fermentative processes development for biofuels production, mainly in ethanol from lignocellulose.Works with different levels involved in the production of biofuels in Brazil and worldwide, as government, international organizations (IICA - PROCISUR, Procitropicos; OLADE) and research institutions (CTC; CTBE; CENPES; INTA/Argentina; ARS/USDA, RDA/South Korea, among others). She also participates in several joint research projects and collaborations within and outside the company. She acts as ad hoc consulter of different national and international scientific journals as Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Quarterly Journal, Electronic Journal of Biotechnology, Process Biochemistry, Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology and Preparative Biochemistry & Biotechnology Cristina Machado is a Researcher of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation - EMBRAPA.
