Benildo Sousa Cavada

Biography

With a basic education at the Cassiano do Nascimento School Group (Pelotas-RS) and 1st and 2nd grades at the Visconde da Graça Agricultural College (Pelotas-RS), he holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal University of Pelotas (1976), a master's degree in Biochemistry from the University Federal of Ceará (1980) and Ph.D. in Sciences Pharmaceutiques (Biochimie Vegetale) by the University of Toulouse III (Paul Sabatier, Toulouse / France) (1985). Producer of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development since 1986 (currently level 1A) and Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Federal University of Ceará since 2011. He has experience in the field of Biochemistry, with emphasis on Chemistry of Macromolecules , working mainly in the following subjects: Plant Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Proteins, Lectins. He has published more than 320 full papers in indexed scientific journals and has directed 51 doctors, 50 masters and more than 200 fellows in other modalities as principal counselor. Through Decree of November 16, 2006, he was admitted to the National Order of Scientific Merit, with the title of commander, and on December 16, 2010 he was elected as a full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (Agricultural Sciences area). Since 2008 he is Coordinator of the INCT Institute of NanoBioEstruturas & Simulação NanoBioMolecular (NANO (BIO) SIMES). He was the creator and first Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biotechnology of Natural Resources of UFC (August 2013 to August 2015). 50 masters and more than 200 fellows in other modalities as principal counselor.
