Biography

Prof. Sergio Machado and I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I obtained my bachelor degree in Physical Education in 2005 and started my scientific career in the same year at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. I obtained my M.S. and Ph.D. in Psychiatry and Mental Health from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 2008 and 2011 respectively, studying Brain Mapping and Sensorimotor Integration. I obtained my post-doc in Neurophylosophy at Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), my post-doc in Psychiatry and Mental Health at UFRJ and my post-doc in Translational Medicine at National Institute of Science and Technology in Translational Medicine (INCT-TM). I am presently working as Permanent Professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) - Post-Graduation Program in Psychiatry and Mental Health - Laboratory of Panic and Respiration (LABPR), and as coordinator of Physical Activity and as Permanent Professor at Salgado de Oliveira University (UNIVERSO) - Physical Activity Sciences Post-Graduation Program - Neuroscience Lab at Salgado de Oliveira University (UNIVERSO). In addition, I am undergraduating in Psychology at Estácio de Sá University (UNESA). At the moment, my main research projects deal with the acute and chronic effects of exercise on behavioral, symptomatology, neuropsychological and brain activity of healthy individuals and neurological and psychiatric patients; the correlation of neuropsychological profile of neurological and psychiatric patients correlated to symptomatology, cerebral (EEG) and autonomic functioning (HRV); the effects of cognitive rehabilitation on symptomatology, cognitive functioning, activities of daily living (ADLs) and brain activity (EEG) of neurological and psychiatric patients; and the effects of transcranial mgnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on symptomatology, cognitive functioning, autonomic functioning (HRV) and brain activity (EEG). Research Interest

At the moment, my main research interestts deal with neuroscience of exercise; neuropsychology, neuropsychological assessment and cognitive rehabilitation; neuropsychopharmacology; electrophysiology (quantitative electroencephalography) and non invasive brain stimulation (TMS, tDCS) in healthy people and in neurological and psychiatric disorders
