Biography

Daurea Abadia de Souza has a degree in Medicine (1976) and Medical Residency (1978) by the Federal University of Uberlândia. She holds a Master's degree (1983), Doctorate (1986) and Post-doctorate in Medicine by the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo. Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU). Coordinator pro tempore of the Medical Graduation Course. Permanent Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, UFU (Advisor of the Academic Master, Professional Master, and PhD). Leader of the Research Group on Food and Nutrition Security, UFU, registered at CNPq. Leader of the Research Group on Clinical Nutrition, registered at CNPq. Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Center for Sustainable Food and Nutritional Security, Pro-Rectory of Extension, Culture, and Student Affairs, UFU. Sectional Editor, Clinical Research Area, Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research. President of the Commission responsible for the Creation of the Undergraduate Course in Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine, UFU (2008). Physician responsible for the Malnutrition Outpatient Clinic of Hospital de Clínicas. She has experience in Medicine, with emphasis on Nutritional Therapy, working mainly on the following topics: clinical nutrition, protein-energy malnutrition, and critically ill patients.
