Biography
Elmiro Santos Resende Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Uberlândia (1977), with a PhD in Cardiology from the Federal University of São Paulo (1986). He is a Full Professor, from February / 2015, at the Department of Clinical Medicine - Specialty Cardiology, at the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Uberlândia and physician of the Cardiology and Intensive Care Services of the Uberlândia Federal University Hospital. He is the coordinator of the experimental medicine laboratory and clinical research center of the Hospital de Clínicas of the Federal University of Uberlândia (HC-UFU), developing research on atherosclerosis and cardiovascular remodeling, with emphasis on regenerative processes and cell therapy. He also coordinates the HC-UFU's Telehealth sector and oversees studies on capturing, processing and transmission of cellular electrical signals and telemedicine systems. Rector of the Federal University of Uberlândia, mandate 2012/2016.
Research Interest
Atherosclerosis and cardiovascular remodeling, with emphasis on regenerative processes and cell therapy.
