Biography
Gustavo da Rocha Schmidt is the acting Presidente of the Brazilian Center of Mediation and Arbitration - CBMA. Mr. Schmidt studied Law at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (2000), and has a Master of Laws degree at New York University School of Law (2008), as well as a Master of Laws degree at Getulio Vargas Foundation. He is a Professor of Law at FGV Direito Rio, as well as an attorney and partner at Schmidt, Lourenço, Kingston Attorneys at Law. He is also a City Attorney to the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro and Professor at the State Magistrature School. Has experience in many areas of law, with emphasis in constitutional law, administrative law and civil and corporate litigation. Worked as the Secretary Chief of Staff at the Rio de Janeiro Mayor's Office, between 2012 and 2014, during Mayor Eduardo Paes'administration.
