Biography
Leandro Machado is a Brazilian business and civic entrepreneur. In the last five years, cofounded RAPS, Political Action Network for Sustainability; CAUSE, the first issues advocacy firm in Brazil; and AGORA!, a new political movement to regenerate local politics. Leandro Machado previous background includes positions of Institutional Affairs at IBM, Shell Brasil, and Natura Cosméticos, where he was Head of Corporate Affairs, dealing with Media Relations, NGO and Key Stakeholders Relations, Public Relations, Crisis Management and Corporate & Board of Director´s Communications in Brazil and Latin America. Mr. Machado also leaded the Governmental Relations Department, the communication for the three Co-Chairmen of Natura’s Board of Directors and for the Chief Executive Officer. From 2009 to 2011, acted as Chief of Staff and Public Relations of Guilherme Leal, Natura Cosméticos' shareholder and co-chairman of the Board. Mr. Guilherme Leal runned for Vice Presidency in Brazil's 2010 elections with Ms. Marina Silva (Green Party), when they had about 20 million votes - 20% of Brazilian electorate. Mr. Machado is a political scientist, with a bachelor degree at Universidade de Brasilia, Brazil, with specialization courses on International Communication at Siracuse University/ABERJE and in political management at George Washington University. He is one of the founders and Council Member of RAPS - Rede de Ação Política pela Sustentabilidade, Political Action for Sustanability Network, a non-partisan civil society organization that aims to identify, select, train (on policy, on politics and on the sustainability agenda) and monitor the future best brazilian politicians. In 2015, Leandro Machado was nominated as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
