Biography
Paulo N. Figueiredo is full professor at the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), where he joined in 1999. Over the past 25 years he has been teaching undergraduate, graduate and executive training courses in technological and innovation management, reaching a cumulative audience of approximately 5,000 students. He accumulates 20 years of experience in academic research into the nature, causes and consequences of the innovation capability-building process in firms and industries in developing/emerging economies. In 1999 he founded and still heads up the Research Programme on Technological Learning and Industrial Innovation in Brazil at EBAPE/FGV. Within this Research Programme he has led more than 20 research projects. He once simultaneously led successfully 6 research projects. These projects have been funded by national and international research funding agencies and by the industry through competitive applications. His research methodology is centered on longitudinal studies, often covering several decades, based on extensive fieldwork and systematic triangulation of evidence-gathering and analysis techniques. His research has been published in the forms of books, book chapters and academic journals such as Research Policy; Industrial and Corporate Change; World Development; Technovation; International Journal of Technology Management; Asian Journal of Technology Innovation; Oxford Development Studies; Journal of Evolutionary Economics; Technological Forecasting and Social Change; Journal of Management Studies; Canadian Journal of Development Studies.
