Biography
José Renato Bouças Farias is an Agronomic Engineer trained by UFPel. He holds a Master's degree in Plant Production from UFPel; PhD in Agronomy / Phytotechnology, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul; and Post-Doctorate in Modeling and Simulation of Agricultural Systems by UNICAMP and University of Florida-USA. He has been a researcher at Embrapa Soja since 1990, with active participation in several projects, working in the areas of agrometeorology, plant ecophysiology, modeling and simulation of agricultural systems, risk zoning and climate change. He has been a Fellow of CNPq since 1995, a member and scientific advisor to several associations, research foundations, magazines and universities. It has several publications in indexed periodicals, chapters of books, works in congresses and orientations. In addition to technical and scientific actions, has a strong position in research management, being a leader of projects, technical teams and research group (Soya Ecophysiology). He is a member of the Sectoral Chamber of the Soja Productive Chain, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, representing Embrapa. Was Executive Secretary of the Internal Technical Committee? CTI of Embrapa Soja (1995-1999 and 2006-2008) and Head of Research and Development of Embrapa Soja for two administrations (1999-2003 and 2008-2013). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Instituto Agronômico do Paraná - IAPAR. Currently (since November 2013), he is the General Manager of Embrapa Soy.
