Biography

I'm a design researcher in the Visual Analytics & Insights group, at IBM Research Brazil. With a solid background on strategic design methodologies such as Design Thinking and extensive experience building digital interfaces, my research is focused in creating solutions based on user-centered investigation and lean prototyping. I hold a Master’s degree in Technologies Applied to Arts from GrenobleINP - Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble, France and a B.A in design from ESDI - Escola Superior de Desenho Industrial, UERJ. Prior to joining IBM Research, I worked as a UX designer and developer at Xerox Research Centre Europe and as a “Design Thinker” for innovation at MJV Technology and Innovation, focusing on service design strategies. In the early stage of my career, I had the opportunity to acquire a great knowledge concerning Computer Graphics, while working as a research assistant at VisGraf – Vision and Graphics Laboratory, at IMPA (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada), where I was responsible for multimedia creation based on 3D scanning projects. My research interests include user-centered design, user experience, human computer interaction, visual analytics and data visualization, which I had the opportunity to explore when working at O Globo newspaper, at the infographics team. I believe design is a crucial instrument when developing innovation and research solutions and having a user-centered approach and a systemic methodology becomes key to linking complex technology and user needs.
