Dario Augusto Borges Oliveira  

Biography

Dário Oliveira received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) in 2007, with specialization in Computer and Systems. In 2009, he received his M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering with emphasis on Image Analysis and Computer Vision from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), developing part of his M.Sc. research at the Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal. He received his Ph.D. degree from Puc-Rio in 2013, doing part of his Ph.D. research at the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. In 2013 he worked as a researcher at Getulio Vargas Foundation, working with historical data analysis. From 2014 to 2015 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Sao Paulo, doing his research in analytics applied to Neuroscience. From 2015 to 2016 he worked with image analytics applied to industry at General Electric Global Research Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since October 2016 he works at IBM Research lab in São Paulo. His current research interests are image analysis, machine learning, pattern recognition and deep learning models with applications in medicine, remote sensing, stereo vision and visual comprehension in general.
