Biography

As a computer science researcher, I aim to study and create technologies related to describing, processing, delivering, adapting, and presenting multimedia content to different devices. By studying these technologies, I have designed and implemented network protocols, client-server applications, distributed multimedia and hypermedia applications, and the reference implementation of a Digital TV middleware named Ginga. In addition, I have minor contributions in the specification of the NCL (Nested Context Language). Designed at TeleMídia Lab (PUC-Rio), NCL is a declarative language for hypermedia-document authoring. Ginga and NCL are part of two international standards that I have also contributed: ITU-T H.761 Recommendation for IPTV services and the ISDB-T standards (International Standard for Digital Broadcasting – Terrestrial). Currently, I am a research scientist on Natural Resources Solutions, investigating new software technologies (e.g. cognitive computing, IoT, cloud, etc.) for systems development, integration and operation, applied to solutions on natural resources.
