Peter William Bryant

Biography

Peter is a Research Staff Member at the IBM Research Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has been working with the Industrial Technology & Science Group since November, 2012. Peter has a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, where he specialized in the theory of open and complex, quantum mechanical systems. He has a M.S. in Physics from the University of Kansas, USA, where he studied experimental high energy physics. He has a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Kansas, USA. Before joining IBM, Peter was a physics instructor at the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught physics to non-technical students, medical students, and graduate students. In 2008 he studied the quantum and statistical mechanical aspects of time as a visitor at the Advanced Study Group at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany. He was also a member of the DØ Experiment at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, where he searched for evidence of the electroweak production of single top quarks. He worked as an engineering intern at The Boeing Company and also for six years as a flight test engineer at Kohlman Systems Research.
