Biography
Dr. Pulak Ranjan Giri completed his Bachelor of Science(B.Sc) with Physics honours from Calcutta University, India in 1999 and received his master of science(M.Sc) in physics from the same university in 2001. He did his Ph.D research in Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, India from 2002-2009 under the supervision of Prof. Palash Baran Pal and obtained the Ph.D degree from Jadavpur University, India in 2009. Then he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Universite de Montreal, Canada from January, 2010 -June, 2010. He moved to Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain for the second postdoc position and worked there from April, 2011-April, 2013. His third postdoc was a JSPS postdoctoral position in Ochanomizu University, Japan from June, 2013 - June, 2015. From August, 2015 Dr. Giri is a postdoctoral fellow at International Institute of Physics, UFRN, Natal, Brazil. During the Ph.D period he worked on mathematical physics, specifically on the self adjoint extensions of the Hamiltonian or any other hermitian quantum mechanical operators. He exploited mostly the von Neumanns self-adjoint extensions technique of the Hamiltonian to study problems in quantum mechanics and condensed matter physics. Apart from that,he also worked in non-commutative, non-hermitian and supersymmetric quantum mechanics. During the JSPS postdoc period he started to work on integrable models, specifically on algebraic Bethe ansatz, string solutions, singular solutions and (non)-equilibrium dynamics of the spin chains. Now in International Institute of Physics, Brazil Dr. Giri is working on integrable models and quantum information and computation.
