Alberto Bastos

Biography

Mr. Alberto Bastos Co-founded Módulo Security Solutions S.A. and Modulo Security, LLC in August 1985 and has been its Chief Technology Officer since August 1985. Mr. Bastos is responsible for research and development of all Modulo’s products and new-generation GRC solutions. In this role, he initiates new strategic areas of research for Modulo and works to understand and support customer issues and requirements, collaborating with its sales and consulting organizations. Mr. Bastos is the Chief Designer and Coordinator of various large security and risk management projects. He has been Brazilian Delegate of ISO Risk Management since 2005. He has been a Coordenador at ABNT CEE Gestão de Riscos since 1998. Mr. Bastos worked to design the base technology for Modulo’s MetaFramework. He was responsible for Modulo receiving the world’s first ISO 27001 certification. He serves as a Member of the CCE Working Group from MITRE (www.mitre.org). He is a Coordinator of the Brazilian Risk Management Committee on National Technical Standards. He serves as a Member of the Brazilian national committee responsible for 27000 series information security standards which include ISO/IEC 27001 and 17799. Mr. Bastos was recognized by the Brazilian chapter of ISSA as the 2008 Security Professional of the Year. Mr. Bastos has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1986 and an Executive MBA from COPPEAD/UFRJ in 1996. He studied at EFORM - Escola de Formação de Oficiais da Reserva da Marinha in 2000, Universidade Federal Fluminense in 1984, Colégio Santo Antonio Maria Zaccaria in 1979 and Colégio Pedro II - Humaitá in 1978.
