Biography
Evaristo Eduardo de Miranda is an agronomist, has a master's degree and a doctorate in ecology from the University of Montpellier (France). With hundreds of works published in Brazil and abroad, he is the author of 45 books. Researcher of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation since 1980, he participated and coordinated more than 40 research projects and implemented and directed three national research centers. Received title of citizen noronhense in set-1987. He is a member of several scientific societies. He directed the first programs of agroecological and socioeconomic studies on rural properties in the Northeast and Amazon and their monitoring by satellites. He was professor of the University of S. Paulo for 10 years and for 4 years coordinator in the Office of Monitoring and Institutional Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic. He is director of the Institute of Science and Faith. UN advisor to the World Conference on Environment, Rio-92, provides advice to FAO, UNESCO, World Bank, OAS, FAPESP and other national and international entities. He publishes in magazines and newspapers such as National Geographic, ECO 21, Agroanalysis, Agro DBO, Principles, Journal of the University, The State of São Paulo etc. and participates in the editorial board of several publications. He is the coordinator of the GITE - Strategic Territorial Intelligence Group of EMBRAPA since October 2013 and in August of 2015 he assumed the position of Chief of the Embrapa Satellite Monitoring.
