Biography
I was initially trained as a medical doctor, and after obtaining my Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 1998, I have focused my career on cancer research. The main focus of my research has been the detection of molecular alterations in human cancers and the investigation of potential candidates for therapeutic intervention. In the last ten years, I have explored the potential of expression of cancer/testis (CT) genes as biomarkers for cancer detection, prognosis and also as targets for therapeutic cancer vaccines. This work has been carried out initially at the LICR (Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research) New York Branch at Memorial Sloan-Kettering from 2004 to 2010 and more recently in the LICR Collaborative Laboratory that was created at the Department of Neurosurgery of Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine where I was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery on June 2010.
