Angie Risley

Biography

Appointed Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman Elect of the Remuneration Committee on 18 September 2017.   Career and Experience Angie graduated from Exeter University with a degree in sociology. She then joined the United Biscuits graduate trainee scheme and set up an HR department for the restaurant division. After five years she moved to Pizza Hut (UK) as Group Human Resources Director.  Between 1989 and 2007 Angie worked in a variety of roles at Whitbread plc and was gradually promoted to Group HR Director, becoming a member of the board from 2004. At Lloyds Banking Group, she managed the integration process of its merger with HBOS’ 120,000 employees and remained until 2013. She is currently Group HR Director of J Sainsbury plc, where following its acquisition of the Home Retail Group in 2016 and subsequent integration of Argos, she has responsibility for 2,000 sites and 200,000 employees.  Angie has held the position of Non-Executive Director and member of the Remuneration Committee at Arriva plc and Biffa plc. Until her appointment at Smith & Nephew plc she was Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of Serco Plc. Skills and Competencies Angie is a well-regarded FTSE 100 Human Resources Director and proven Non-Executive Director and Remuneration Committee Chairman. She has gained experience in a wide range of sectors, including a regulated environment. This diversity of experience will be welcomed by the Board, the Remuneration Committee and of course our shareholders when discussing such an important topic. Angie will also be an additional resource and sounding board for our own internal Human Resources function. Nationality British
