Walter Schalka

Biography

Mr. Walter Schalka serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A. Mr. Schalka served as the Chief Executive Officer of Votorantim Cimentos S.A. until November 30, 2012. In 2005, he joined Grupo Votorantim as President of Votorantim Cimentos, being responsible for operations in Brazil and 14 other countries. He served as the President of Bemis do Brasil Industria e Comercio de Embalagens Ltda. (alternate name, Dixie Toga S.A.) since 1991. Mr. Schalka started his career at Citibank, followed by the Holding company of Grupo Klabin Maepar. He joined Dixie Toga in 1989. He served as a Director of CIMPOR - Cimentos De Portugal, SGPS, S.A. from April 2010 to December 2012. Mr. Schalka was elected as the Chief Executive Officer of the Year 2015 and 2016 in Latin America by RISI. Mr. Schalka is an Engineer. Mr. Schalka holds a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica; Postgraduate diploma in Business Management and administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas and a Graduate from Harvard University. He attended executives programs at IMD and Harvard Business School.
