Biography

Mr. Ángel Vilá Boix serves as Director of Digital+ at PRISA Televisión S.A.U. Mr. Vilá Boix has been Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director at Telefónica, S.A. since July 26, 2017. He served as the Chief Strategy & Finance Officer at Telefónica, S.A. until July 26, 2017. From September 1998 to September 1999, he served as General Manager (Director), for Corporate Development and Control in TELEFÓNICA, S.A and was responsible for Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Strategy. Mr. Vilá Boix served as General Manager of Strategy and Finance at Telefónica, S.A. and served as its the Chief Financial and Corporate Development Officer since 2011 and General Manager of Finance & Corporate Development since 2011. He served as General Manager of Business at the Planeta Group prior to rejoining Telefónica, S.A. in May 2000. He joined the Telefónica Group in 1997 as a Deputy Comptroller General. From January 1998 to August 1998, he served as General Manager (Director), of Finance and Control at Telefónica Latinoamérica, S.A. He began his career as a Financial Analyst at Citibank, N.A. and served as a Consultant at McKinsey & Co. and worked at the Spanish construction companies, Ferrovial and Pacsa groups. in 1998 he became the Chief Financial Officer of Telefónica Internacional. In 2000, he was appointed as General Manager of Corporate Development of the Telefónica Group. He served as Consultant of the Advisory Board of Macquarie MEIF Funds. He serves as Director at Banco Alvorada S.A., Telefónica Germany, Catalana d’Iniciatives S.C.R. S.A., Terra Lycos and Endemol and Endemol Holding NV. He serves as a Director of Telefônica Brasil S.A. He serves as a Trustee of Telefónica Foundation. He served as a Non-Independent External Director of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A from April 17 2000 to March 16, 2007. He served as a Proprietary Director of Terra Lycos SA (formerly, Terra Networks S.A.), subsidiary of Telefónica, S.A. from July 25, 2001 to February 10, 2005 and its Director from April 2002 to February 10, 2005. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG since September 18, 2012 until October 12, 2017. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at O2 Czech Republic a.s. (Alternate Names: Telefónica Czech Republic AS and Telefonica 02 Czech Republic) from June 23, 2005 to May 6, 2013. He served on the Boards of CTC Chile, Cablevisión Argentina,, Indra SSI, Telefónica Sistemas, Telefónica Data, Atento and Catalana d'Iniciatives S.C.R., S.A. He also served as a Member of The Board of Telco SpA (Italy), BBVA, Digital Plus and Telefónica Contenidos. Institutional Investor appointed Mr. Vilá as the Best CFO in European Telecoms in 2015. Mr. Vilá was also awarded by Thomson Reuters Extel Pan-European Awards as the n.1 CFO in Spain, in the years of 2013 and 2014, as well as n.1 CFO for Telecommunications Services in Europe for 2014. Mr. Vilá Boix has a Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña in 1988 and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Columbia University (New York) in 1990.
