Biography

Sérgio Paulo Dejato da Rocha holds a bachelor's degree in Biomedicine from the State University of Londrina (2003), a specialization in Bioinformatics from the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (2016), a Master's degree in Microbiology from the State University of Londrina (2005) and a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of São Paulo (2010). Post doctorate in the Bacteriology Laboratory of the Butantan Institute (2010-2012). He is currently Adjunct Professor of Microbiology and responsible for the Laboratory of Bacteriology at the State University of Londrina. Lecturer in the Post-graduation Program in Microbiology at UEL. Has experience in the area of ​​Microbiology (bacteriology), with emphasis on Biology and Physiology of Microorganisms. The research areas focus mainly on the following topics: bacterial epidemiology, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, sepsis, antimicrobials and bioinformatics.

Research Interest

1) The genotypic and phenotypic characterization of virulence factors of Gram-negative bacteria of human medical interest. 2) Molecular methods for the diagnosis of bacterial infections of human medical interest. 3) Use of bioinformatics tools in the genome exploration of bacteria of human medical interest. 4) Antimicrobial potential of natural metallic and antimicrobial nanoparticles.
