Biography
Maria Tereza Cartaxo Muniz holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1985), a PhD in Biological Sciences (Physiology) from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1990) and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo (2002). She is currently an Associate Professor at the Universidade Pernambuco - UPE, a collaborating researcher at the Genetics Department of the Federal University of Pernambuco and the Bone Marrow Transplantation Center - Molecular Biology Laboratory - National Cancer Institute. Develops a project in partnership with the University of Antwerp-Belgium in the area of ​​neurosciences. Has experience in Medicine and Human Genetics, working mainly on the following topics: genetic polymorphisms in degenerative diseases; Etiopathogenesis of childhood leukemia and solid tumors; Molecular markers in neurological diseases; coronary artery disease; Cell therapy. She currently serves as the Postgraduate and Research Dean of the University of Pernambuco and serves as Executive Secretary of the National Forum of Research and Postgraduate Deans since January 2017.
