Biography
Federico David Brown-Almeida is currently a Ph.D. and leads the Laboratory of Evolutionary Biology of Development (EvoDevo) in the Department of Zoology, Institute of Biosciences of the University of São Paulo. The research topics currently studied in the laboratory include: (1) evolution of coloniality in marine chordates (ie ascidians); (2) stem cells and regeneration in invertebrates; And (3) evolution of nematode behaviors. He graduated as a Bachelor (Bachelor) in the Department of Biological Sciences of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador (2001). For his doctoral studies, He received a Fulbright scholarship and a pre-doctoral scholarship from the American Heart Association and earned his degree in Development and Evolution from the University of Washington (2008). He continued postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen, Germany (2008-2010) on behavioral genetics and evolution of nematodes. He worked as Assistant Professor of the Department of Biological Sciences of the Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia.
