Biography
Gustavo Fonseca holds a degree in Biology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). He completed his Masters in Nematology, the University of Gent, Belgium and his PhD in Marine Biology from Universität Oldenburg in collaboration with the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI). He was a FAPESP Fellow for the Young Researcher modality at the Center for Marine Biology of the University of São Paulo (CEBIMar-USP). The research in the area of ecology is dedicated to better understand the mechanisms that structure the communities of unconsolidated funds and establish the standards of connectivity between marine ecosystems. In addition, it has a taxonomic, systematic and evolutionary interest to understand the high diversity and evolutionary success of free-living nematodes.
