Biography
Professor Ricardo Mario Arida received the Doctor of Science degree (Ph.D.) from the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the Federal University of São Paulo, Brazil in 1999 with the study of the relationship between epilepsy and physical exercise on the orientation of Prof. Dr. Esper Abrão Gentleman. He completed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Oxford - UK in 1999-2000, with studies related to the hypothesis of central fatigue under the supervision of Profa. Lindy Castell. He continued research that studies the effects of physical exercise on epilepsy as Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Experimental Neurology at the Federal University of São Paulo between 2001-2006. Specifically, their research is related to the mechanisms by which physical exercise reduces the frequency of epileptic seizures in animal models of epilepsy.
