Biography
Arabella Campos Oliven holds a BS in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1965), a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Essex (1972), a PhD in Sociology from the University of London (1982) and a postdoctoral degree from the University of California, Berkeley -94). She was an associate researcher at the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America at Brown University, USA, from 2009 to 2010 and 2011 to 2012. Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (2016-2017). Full Professor of Sociology of Education of UFRGS

Research interests: Sociology of Education, comparative higher education systems, affirmative action policies in universities, Whiteness.
