Armando Molina Divan Junior

Professor
Biological sciences

Biography

He holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences and a master's degree in ecology from UFRGS (1986); PhD in Plant Physiology, Federal University of Viçosa - UFV (2003). Currently holds post-doctorate at the Laboratory of Quantitative Ecology (ECOQUA / UFRGS), with a research line on the effects of increasing the concentration of atmospheric CO2 on the expansion of forests on the field. Technician from the Ecology Center of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, coordinates the Laboratory of Plant Bioindication and collaborates in the orientation of postgraduate students (master's and doctoral). He has experience in the areas of Ecology and Botany, with emphasis on Plant Physiology, working mainly in the following subjects: plant physiology under stress by atmospheric pollutants, bioaccumulation of contaminants and pollutants, plant bioindicators and environmental impact assessment.

Research Interest

His researches on abiotic stress aim at the physiological and biochemical characterization of the genetic variability and mechanisms of resistance of the plants to the stresses caused by atmospheric pollutants. Their research on plant bioindicators aims to select sensitive and / or environmentally tolerant plants for their use in monitoring environmental impact or restoring degraded areas.
