Biography
He holds a BS in Chemistry from the National University of Athens (1974), a PhD in Chemistry - Bielefeld University (1979), a DAAD Fellow and a Postdoctoral Fellow from the University of Utah, USA (1983), Fulbright Fellowship and the Interdisciplinary Research Center - ZIF 1985-1986) Germany via DFG. He is currently a professor of Physics and Chemistry at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He has experience in Chemistry, with emphasis on Analytical Chemistry and Physicochemistry of solids and complex liquids. Solid materials: semi-crystalline and amorphous polymers, thermoplastics and thermosets. Characterization studies (solid and liquid state) using structural characterization techniques (Optical Microscopy, Electronics, SAXS, WAXS), dynamics, spectroscopy and thermodynamics (light scattering, conductivity, impedance, DMTA, DSC, TGA, NMR, FTIR, UV -VIS)
Research Interest
It works mainly on the following topics: Molecular interactions of weak forces. Synthetic, biological and renewable complex macro and supramolecular systems. Liquids: simple solvents, fuels and biofuels and their processing products.
