Biography

Researcher at CNPq - Level 2. He holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry (1983) and Chemistry (1988) from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1994) and a Ph.D. Federal University of Santa Catarina (1998). Between 1984 and 1989, he was a laboratory analyst at Companhia Riograndense de Saneamento (CORSAN) and between 1989 and 2000 he was a researcher at the Science and Technology Foundation (CIENTEC). He was a researcher at the Forschungszentrum in Jülich, Germany, . He joined the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in 2000 at the Institute of Chemistry, retiring as a full professor in 2017. He is currently a visiting professor at the Institute of Chemistry of UFRGS. He is a reviewer of journals in the area of ​​Analytical Chemistry and adviser of students in the Graduate Program in Chemistry (PPGQ) of UFRGS. He has published 90 articles in periodicals with selective editorial quality.

Research Interest

His research area is Analytical Chemistry, working mainly in the following subjects: ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), ICP OES (inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry), ETV-ICP-MS (electrothermal vaporization - inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), LA-ICP-MS (laser ablation with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrometry) and the development of analytical methodologies for the determination of trace elements.
