Biography

Associate Professor II at the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He is a Research Professor of Research in Research at CNPq - Level 2. He guides undergraduate, post-graduate and post-doctoral students in different post-graduate programs at UFRGS. Graduate and Master in Industrial Chemistry from the Universiteit van Amsterdam - The Netherlands (1999) and Doctor in Industrial Chemistry from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam - The Netherlands / Leibniz-Institut für Pflanzenbiochemie - Germany (2004). He holds a PhD in Sandwich at UFSM (2002), Post-doctorate at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - USA (2005) and Visiting Researcher at UFRGS (2006). He received the DuPont Young Professor Award from DuPont Industry - USA (2007).

Research Interest

He works in the areas of biorefinery research in order to develop innovative technologies; catalysis in the development of new catalytic processes; of Ionic Liquids and Imidazole Salts in the development of technological processes and in the synthesis of new compounds; of Polymer Nanocomposites in the development of new nanocomposites in order to develop new technologies and materials; of Polymer in the synthesis of polymeric materials and the development of new technologies; in Organic Synthesis aimed at the development of new organic compounds with different industrial applications (eg catalysis), biological activities such as anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiofilm, in agriculture for applications in insecticides and in the restoration of Works of Art; and Microbiology in the prospection of new substances and polymeric materials with biological activities, such as antimicrobial and antibiofilm.
