Biography

Plastic Surgeon Cranio-Maxillo-Facial. Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1984) and PhD in Medicine and Surgery - University of Barcelona (1997). Specialist in Plastic Surgery by the SBCP / AMB / CFM (HCPA - Brazil, Clinica Planas - Spain) and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery by the ABCCMF / AMB / CFM (Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona - Spain, Institute for Craniofacial Surgery - United States). Adjunct Professor, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, UFRGS. Head of the Plastic Surgery Service, coordinator of the Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery Unit and of the Improvement Course at CMF, Hospital de Clínicas, Porto Alegre. UFRGS. Professor of the Post-Graduation Course in Surgical Sciences, UFRGS. Manager, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery of the Mãe de Deus Health System. Consultant in Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery of the Santa Casa Hospital Complex and the Plastic Surgery Service of PUC. Member of the editorial board of the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery and the Brazilian Journal of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery; scientific advisor to "The Journal of Pediatrics", "Acta Paediatrica" ​​and the AMRIGS Magazine.

Research Interest

Research projects in the areas of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery, acting mainly on the following subjects: bone substitutes, stem cells, cranioplasty, cranio-maxillofacial anomalies, lip-palatine cleft, Pierre Robin sequence. In the associative area he is former president and permanent member of the Consultative Council of the Brazilian Association of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery; a full member of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery and the North American Skull Base Society.
