Biography
Patrícia Valente da Silva holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1992), a Master's Degree in Plant Biotechnology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1995) and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Genetics) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2001). He is currently associate professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Member of the Editorial Board of the Brazilian Journal of Biosciences. He acts as an ad hoc reviewer of the following publications: PLoS One, Canadian Journal of Microbiology, International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, Iberoamerican Journal of Mycology, Mycopathology.
Research Interest
He has experience in Genetics, with emphasis on Molecular Taxonomy, working mainly on the following topics: yeast, molecular taxonomy, biodiversity, biotechnological potential.
