Paulo Henrique Schneider

Biography

Paulo Henrique Schneider is Associate Professor II of the Department of Organic Chemistry of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul since 2006 and a 1D scholarship in productivity and research from CNPq. He holds a degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Maria (2000). In the same year he joined the Graduate Program at the same University, obtaining a PhD in 2004. During his PhD, he completed a short internship at the Institut für Pflanzenbiochemie, Halle, Germany (2003). After a post-doctoral internship at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2005), he began his independent career when he was hired as a professor at the same University. He was substitute coordinator of the Graduate Program in Chemistry of UFRGS (2011-2013) and deputy director of the Division of Organic Chemistry of the Brazilian Chemical Society in the biennium 2012-2013. He is currently Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Chemistry (Concept 7 CAPES) (Biennium 2013-2015 re-elected for the biennium 2015-2017) and Chairman of the Forum of Coordinators of Postgraduate Commissions of UFRGS (2016-2017). It is affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. It develops research projects in the area of ​​catalysis, in the synthesis of new catalysts and chiral organocatalysts for application in asymmetric reactions.

Research Interest

Catalysis, in the synthesis of new catalysts and chiral organocatalysts for application in asymmetric reactions. It also works in the obtaining of organocalcogenic compounds with special emphasis in its application in the area of ​​materials.
