Biography
He received a PhD in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1986), a Master's degree in Medicine Surgery from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1994) and postdoctoral fellowship abroad (PDE), with CNPq scholarship, held at the University of Southern California - Los Angeles - USA (2001-2002) in the area of ​​esophageal and gastric diseases. He was President of the Society of Surgery of Rio Grande do Sul (2000-2001) and Master of the Brazilian Chapter of the Surgeons-RS (2002-2003), as well as Vice-president of sector VI with CBC (2004-2005) and Vice President of the Brazilian College of Digestive Surgery in the RS in management 2009-2010. He was Deputy Substitute Professor of the Surgery Department of FAMED - UFRGS in the area of ​​Trauma Surgery. Approved in Public Tender in May 2010 for Adjunct Professor I of the Department of Surgery of FAMED-UFRGS, developing this activity since August 2010. He is currently Adjunct Professor IV of the Surgery Department of FAMED-UFRGS. He is a member of the Collegiate of the Department of Surgery 2013-2015 and is currently Head of the Surgery Department of FAMED-UFRGS. He has been a Professor of the Postgraduate Course in Surgery since 2000 and was a member of the Organizing Committee of this course from 2005 to 2009, 2011/2013 and is currently vice-coordinator of the Postgraduate Course in Surgery 2015-2017. He is Professor of the Graduate Course in Gastroenterology UFRGS since 2011.
Research Interest
Has experience in the area of ​​Medicine, with emphasis on Gastroenterology Surgery, acting mainly on the following topics: video-surgery, survival, staging, squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus, esophageal adenocarcinoma, esophagectomy, gastric adenocarcinoma, gastrectomy, hiatal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, barrett's esophagus, achalasia, manometry, phmetria , esophagogastric carcinogenesis, molecular biology, and trauma surgery.
