Prof. Dr. José Antônio Silva Júnior

Professor
Department of Health Sciences
University Nove de Julho - Sao Paulo
Brazil

Biography

Born in Monte Carmelo-MG, he holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (MG), holds a Master's Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of São Paulo (1997) and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Federal University of São Paulo ( 2001). He completed his PhD and post-doctoral studies at the Max-Delbrück Institute for Molecular Medicine in Berlin, Germany. Received PRODES scholarship from Capes in the second stage of Post-Doctorate at the Federal University of São Paulo (2003). He is currently Professor of Higher Education and researcher at the University of Nove de Julho (UNINOVE). The line of research currently developed involves the analysis of signaling by adhesion receptors, inflammatory cytokines, chemokines and vasoactive prostaglandins and their receptors; regulation of gene expression in vascular endothelium; role of matrix metalloproteinases in angiogenesis and inflammation; apoptosis in vascular disease; animal models for the study of vascular disease (ischemia, ventricular hypertrophy); action of physical training on vascular disease and identification of new therapeutic targets and development of new diagnostic and therapeutic tools
