Almir Rogério Pepato

Professor
Zoology
University of Minas

Biography

He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (Bachelor's degree) from the Institute of Biosciences of the University of São Paulo (2002), a master's and a doctorate in Zoology from the Department of Zoology of the same institute (2005, 2009). He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Zoology of the Institute of Biological Sciences of UFMG. In this department he teaches undergraduate courses: Invertebrate Zoology, Aquatic Animal Embryology, Morphology and Introduction to molecular systematics. In the postgraduate program of the same department, he teaches the discipline of molecular systematics and participates in the discipline of Systematics and evolution of basal metazoa and protostomies. He is coordinator of the Laboratory of Systematics and evolution of acariform mites. Develops a research project regarding the phylogeny and time of divergence of the orders of chelated, employing morphological and molecular data. It also works with the use of molecular data for the resolution of the phylogenetic relationships of other animal groups and the taxonomy of other groups of mites such as thrombosis and hydrachnidia. He has experience in Zoology, with emphasis on Meiobentologia, cellular biology with emphasis on spermatology and osmoregulatory structures.
