Biography

He graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais-UFMG (1993). He obtained titles of Mestre (1996) and Doctor (2000), both in Biological Sciences (Microbiology), by UFMG. He completed postdoctoral studies in the field of signal transduction of cytokines, interferons (IFNs) and innate immunity receptors at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA, from 2000 to 2003. He was a Visiting Researcher at the René Rachou Research Center from 2003-2004. Currently Associate Professor at UFMG. He was a Visiting Professor at the Biochemistry Molecular Biology and Cellular Biology department (BMBCB) at Northwestern University, USA, in 2008, and at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA in 2013. He has experience in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Immunology working in following topics

Research Interest

Cell adaptation to proteotoxicity, Signal transduction of cytokines and pathogens, Molecular mechanisms involved in the control of inflammatory response.
