Biography

Graduated in Biological Sciences at the State University of Campinas, UNICAMP (1986), Master in Ecology from the same university (1991). Between 1992 and 1996 he completed his Ph.D. in Zoology at the University of Oxford, England (1996), where he worked at the Edward Gray Institute of Field Ornithology under the guidance of Professor Christopher Perrins. He did his postdoctoral studies at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, where he published the book 'Aves da Ilha de Santa Catarina' (UFSC publisher sold out). He was a member of the advisory council of the Serra do Cipó National Park from 2005 to 2007. He is currently an associate professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, curator of the Ornithological Collection. He was head of the Department of Zoology from June 2007 to May 2009 and was a FAPEMIG researcher within the Researcher Mining Program (2007/2016). He was area editor of the Brazilian Journal of Ornithology (2006-2008) and was a member of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Ornithological Society. He trained 18 masters, 9 doctors, 33 graduation jobs and 12 scientific initiations. It guides masters and doctoral students in the 'Ecology, Conservation and Wildlife Management' program and in the 'Zoology' program at UFMG. He published 91 scientific articles and 9 scientific articles. He is editor of content and images of the blog of scientific dissemination'life of birds' (http://vidadasaves.com/). He has experience in the field of Ecology, with emphasis in Behavioral Ecology, acting mainly on the following subjects: reproductive behavior of birds, analysis of biodiversity, conservation of the cerrado and the rock fields
