Biography

He holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1977), a master's degree in Parasitology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1980), a specialization in the use of Nuclear Techniques for Diagnosis by USP (1987), a PhD in Parasitology from Universidade Federal de Minas General (1989) and post - doctorate Louisiana State University - USA (1996). Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Parasitology at UFMG (1998-2002), President of the Brazilian College of Veterinary Parasitology (2002-2004). Currently he is a Full Professor of the Department of Parasitology of the Biological Sciences Institute of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, head of the Veterinary Helminthology Laboratory of ICB _UFMG, coordinator of the Helminthology area of ​​the Postgraduate Course of Parasitology-UFMG and coordinator of graduation of the course of Veterinary Parasitology of UFMG. He has experience in Veterinary Medicine, with emphasis on Parasitic Diseases of Animals, working mainly on the following topics: Epidemiology, immunodiagnostics and control of Fasciola hepatica and gastrointestinal and pulmonary helminths of ruminants, biology and immunodiagnostics of Angiostrongylus vasorum.
